The Zenith single bed frame is the smallest size we build, and nothing about it is built smaller. Same solid teak, same joinery, same headboard construction as the king. The only thing that changes is the width.

That matters because of where single beds usually end up: a third or fourth bedroom, a room for house help, a growing teenager’s room, or a parent’s room in a multigenerational home. These are rooms people tend to furnish as an afterthought, with something cheap that has to be replaced in four years. A bed in a spare room still gets slept in by guests, still has to hold an adult, and still creaks at 2am if the joinery was never made properly.

Before you settle on single, it’s worth deciding between single and super single. A single takes a 90 cm mattress; a super single takes 107 cm. Seventeen centimetres sounds like nothing on paper, but for a teenager who is still growing, or an adult sleeping in the room every night rather than occasionally, it is the difference between a bed that fits and a bed that’s comfortable. The frame and the mattress both cost more, so it’s a real trade-off.

The Zenith single bed frame is the right call when floor space is genuinely tight — a narrow room, a room that doubles as a study, or two beds going into one room. If the room can spare another 20 cm of width, look at the super single first. That’s a recommendation from twenty years of watching which one clients end up happy with; the decision is yours.

Technical information

Built to the standard Malaysian single mattress size, 90 × 190 cm. The internal frame opening is deliberately made 2–3 cm larger than the mattress on each side — a small allowance that makes changing a fitted sheet far easier, which matters more in a guest room than people expect.

For planning the room, the outer footprint runs to roughly mattress width plus 8 cm per side and mattress length plus 10 cm at head and foot — about 106 cm wide by 210 cm long. It varies a little by design but it’s a reliable number to measure against.

Slats are approximately 5 cm wide, spaced 2–3 cm apart, and set around 5 cm below the top edge of the frame so the mattress settles into the bed rather than sitting on top of it. Every slat is solid teak. There is no plywood anywhere in this bed.

The frame is assembled with mortise and tenon joinery locked with bolts from the inside — dense hardwood and proper joints are the reason our beds don’t develop the creak-then-rock failure that cheaper frames do. The headboard is solid teak, 110–120 cm tall, unupholstered.

Finishing is NC-based with up to four stain options, from a clear finish that keeps the natural teak tone through to a darker walnut. Timber is SVLK-certified plantation teak from Java, kiln-dried, made in our own Indonesian factory and sold to you direct. Covered by our standard 5-year warranty. Product care

Wipe down with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth. Skip solvent cleaners, and don’t let water stand on the finish.

Teak is dried and treated before it’s cut, but solid wood still expands and contracts with temperature and humidity. Fine hairline movement at a joint or along a longer panel is normal for solid timber and is not a defect — it’s the trade-off that comes with owning something repairable.

Single beds get relocated more than any other size — into a different room, into a sibling’s room, into a new house. Because the Zenith single bed frame is knockdown, that’s straightforward. After each move, check the internal bolts and give them a turn. And after ten years of hard teenage use, solid teak can be sanded, refinished and repaired back into service, which board-based furniture cannot.

Delivery & showroom

Standard designs are held in stock. In the Klang Valley that generally means same-day or next-day delivery with in-home assembly included. If an item is out of stock, the lead time is around eight weeks.

Access is never a problem — the bed dismantles completely, and the largest component is the headboard at roughly frame width. In twenty years we have never had a bed we couldn’t get into a house, condo or lift.
